With the escalating price of gas, buying a fuel-efficient car
makes a lot of sense. Approximately 15% of new car buyers reject
a model due to poor gas mileage. Nearly 40% of those consumers
who eliminate a full-size SUV due to gas mileage ultimately
purchase a midsize SUV instead, while nearly 20% purchase
another model altogether. (J.D. Power and Associates, Sept.
2004.)
But even if you don't currently own a fuel-efficient car, there
are lots of ways you can improve the fuel efficiency of ...

The most important thing you should remember when you go in search of purchasing a used or even a new car is that the person selling the car wants to sell the car. They may not come right out and lie to you about the car in question; however, they may not mention any problems if you do not ask and yes some may even lie to rid themselves of a lemon.
The number one thing you should do before searching for a used car is to know what type of car you would like or at least have some models and ...

The function of a lubrication medium is:
1. To form a film between moving bearing components so that
metal to metal contact is prevented. 2. To reduce friction and
eliminate wear 3. To protect against corrosion 4. To seal
against impurities like dust, dirt, water.
In order for the oil film to be formed between the moving
bearing components, the film must be sufficiently thick even
under heavy load, high temperatures or vibrations.
Some sleeve bearings that has very heavy loads, like in ...

The Typhoon is the Ford Performance Vehicle's version of the stunningly successful Ford XR6 turbo. It runs a beefed-up version of its four-litre in-line six with .64 bar boost being developed from the Garrett turbo. The premium for arming yourself with the Ford Typhoon over the garden variety Ford blown six is $12,600 which makes the FPV a $58,950 spend.
They say there is no replacement for displacement, but the six-cylinder Ford Typhoon might just water down that claim.
So what do you get over ...

Mechanical machines need lubrication. No machines can run for
long without lubrication of its moving parts. At best, the
moving parts may wear out faster. At worst, entire machines can
seize up and develop cracks. In severe conditions, the heat
built up can even cause explosions and loss of lives.
So lubrication is no small matter in machine operation.
Lubrication oil can last for a very long time in normal machine
operation. By determining the properties of lubrication oil,
many machine ...

What is a 4-stroke diesel engine?
As the name suggests, these engines work on reciprocating
actions of pistons. One stroke means one linear motion of the
piston in one direction. When the piston moves in the opposite
direction, that is counted as another stroke.
For a 4-stroke engine, the piston has to move up, then down,
then up again, and then down again to complete one cycle of the
engine. In that 4 stroke of the piston, the crankshaft will have
turned 2 revolutions.
The 4 strokes of the ...

You are in the market to buy a new car. Your first thought is to
trade in your existing one at the dealership. If you do not have
any time and you are very comfortable loosing a couple of
thousand dollars, go ahead and trade in your existing vehicle at
the dealership. If you trade in at the dealership, you don't
have to pay a portion of the sales tax, equivalent to the
trade-in value of your old car, on your new car. For a $2,000
trade-in, that may be as high as $160 at 8% sales tax rate. ...

A few fast responses and facts about Two and Four Stroke Engines.
Many years ago when I got hooked by motorcycles I started to
hear about the two and four stroke engines... It seemed there
were (and there still are) strong opinions in pro and con of
each of the engine types.
As Internet wasn't available, and as I was worried about other
aspects or motorcycle riding in that time, I left that question
unanswered for a long time.
If this is your case or if your are interested about these two
kind ...

Many drivers will tend to listen to the radio or music when they drive and so it can be difficult to spot any changes in engine noise, or hear if a strange sound develops. These changes can be telltale signs that there is something wrong with your car, sometimes if left unchecked these noises can lead to serious damage. If the engine gets louder over time, this can point to the engine's oil running low or needing replacing. It is pretty rare that a car will need its oil completely replacing, ...
